My approach is much more minimalist and shifts the focus from extracting email subscribers from your contributors and instead focuses on building real, lasting peer-to-peer relationships that encourages their investment in your events and will serve you well after your event ends.

You might be! If your business is beyond the beginner stages, meaning you have an offer, an audience and have connections with aligned businesses related to your work, it may be a very good idea to add an event to your marketing strategy.
However, I don’t recommend hosting an event when brand new to business or when starting in a new niche where you do not have any existing contacts.
